Erwin also attended the University of Illinois at Chicago where he obtained a master's degree in Applied Exercise Physiology in 2004 and a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology in 2002. In addition to his studies, Erwin was also an active member on the UIC Men’s Swimming and Diving Team from 1998 to 2001. For ten years, Erwin has been a swim instructor for both children and adults at the East Bank Club, a long-standing fitness institution in Chicago’s River North neighborhood. During the same time, Erwin has also coached swimmers participating in various Triathlons and United States Masters Swimming events. Additionally, Erwin has been a personal trainer for members at East Bank Club since 2002. He is also interested in health promotion for the general population and, in particular, for groups with special health conditions. He finds great fulfillment in helping people get back into shape who have recently completed rehabilitation or are coming off an surgery/operation. He believes in bridging the gap between medical wellness and recreational fitness. He also enjoys the challenge in working with women Pre, Peri and Post natal. For those who have had a sedentary lifestyle, especially children and adolescents, Erwin is interested in promoting a more proactive and healthy lifestyle through the integration of massage therapy, sports, general calisthenics, and aquatics exercises, including – but not limited to – swimming and water aerobics/therapy. As part of his approach for weight loss and life management, Erwin focuses on the integration of fitness and wellness modalities to optimally and positively affect physical, mental and psychosocial aspects of weight loss and management. In his spare time, Erwin has been writing a book on beginner adult swim instruction. The book focuses on the basic fundamentals of swimming, including stroke techniques, drills and lesson plans. Whether you’re training for a race, are looking to lose a few pounds, starting a new work out program, want to learn how to swim or just want to have a new outlook in life, Erwin brings an enthusiasm and intensity to each training session that is suited specifically to your very need. |
